Three Colours, Three Kinds of Evening
A guest stopped for two seconds in the doorway and moved the towel to his other hand. “This one’s red.” He had settled two things before leaving his hotel that evening: which treatment, and what time to arrive. What the room would look like had never occurred to him as something he could pick.
Then the lights came up and the whole space was red. The walls, the light, even the jacket he had draped over the chair took on a layer of it. He said afterwards that the evening had not been the quiet one he had pictured. It had been closer to a celebration.
The themed ambience rooms at Number Nine Spa are not themed by object. They are themed by colour, and each room has one of its own: red, pink-purple, blue-purple. Nothing else in a room changes the feel of the time you spend there as much as that does.
Colour also happens to be the one preference you can state before you leave. Treatment and length can wait until you are standing at the counter. The colour can be said in the same message you use to book — and once you have said it, we have something to ask the venue for on your behalf.
Red starts the evening the moment the door opens
Red gives you no time to adjust. The door swings, the light arrives first, and the warmth seems to follow it in.
Sit down and the colour is on your arms. The face in the mirror looks a shade healthier than usual. The whole room is telling you that tonight is not a night for catching up on sleep.
It is the colour that follows a show best. Come up from the fashion-show stage in the lobby with the music still on you, and red picks up exactly where the floor below left off. If you want to know whether that brightness is yours, the photo gallery is more honest than any description.
Pink-purple turns the volume down
Pink-purple is the gentlest of the three. Not bright, not dark — as though someone had taken the room’s volume down two notches.
Red makes you want to talk. Pink-purple makes you want to stop talking. Your breathing slows to meet it and your shoulders drop back where they belong.
If you are arriving at the end of a long working day and want the hours to be soft rather than loud, this is almost certainly your colour.
Blue-purple keeps the night in the room
Blue-purple is the deepest of the three. The edges of the room step back, people look closer to one another than they are, and voices drop without anyone deciding to lower them.
It is the colour least like daylight. Whatever you carried in off the street at three in the morning, blue-purple does not interrupt it; it simply catches it and holds on.
If you are the sort of guest who remembers this idea only after midnight, blue-purple is the one that meets you where you already are.
When to say which colour you want
The colour is a single line in your booking message. Add “red, if there is one” or “blue-purple, if you can” and we will ask the venue what the room situation looks like for that night and arrange what can be arranged.
Which room is free on the night is settled when you walk in, and that is not something we will promise on the venue’s behalf. What we can promise is that your preference reaches the floor before you do, rather than being raised for the first time at the counter.
You are not on a clock. Number Nine Spa is open 24 hours. Therapists are on shift from 15:00 until 06:00 the following morning.
One thing guests often miscount: the minutes printed against a treatment begin when the therapist begins. Reception, the lockers, the bath area and the walk to the room take none of them. Everything before you push open that coloured door is your own time.
Staying the night is possible, and there are private rest rooms available at a charge, with the price and the hours quoted when you book. The rooms themselves are set out on rooms and facilities.
The numbers for the evening
As of September 2026, the published bands are: the entry choice, Shanghai-style massage at MOP 2,299 for 90 minutes; the popular tier, relief bodywork across health and recovery at 2,799 to 3,599 (the signature and Bali-style courses sit in the same band); the premium choice, aromatic oil and full-body Zen at 4,598 to 6,599; and a second hour on the same course at 999 to 3,999. Individual treatments can be checked when you book, and the full ladder is on the price list.
None of those figures includes the service charge. A further 10% is added at settlement, and it is fairer to say so here than to let you meet it later.
Booking through this site carries three things: a free private car, on the way there and on the way back; two free add-on services of your choosing, picked on site rather than decided in advance; and a free consultation.
Whatever the venue posts on the day is what applies, and we confirm the figures with you again when you book.
What guests ask us most
Does asking for a colour cost extra?
No. The colour of a room is not a paid upgrade; whichever one you choose, the treatment price is the same.
Can I look before I choose?
Yes, and it is an unhurried way to do it: bathe, eat, watch part of a show in the lobby, and settle the room and the treatment after that. There is a general tour of the place on the venue page.
What if my colour is not free that night?
We ask the venue first and then offer you the nearest room to it. The other two are not consolation prizes; they simply turn the same hours into a different mood.
Can I still ask for one late at night?
Yes. The house receives guests late as a matter of course, the request works exactly as it does by day, and the night’s room situation still decides it. How to book is set out on the site.
The guest who stopped in the doorway came back, and this time he said two words before anything else: blue-purple. He still chose his treatment on arrival and still let the hour depend on his mood. Only the colour was settled in advance. What a night at a Macau sauna feels like is largely decided by the light behind the door.
You can do the same. The date, how many of you, whether you are staying the night, and the colour you want — one message covers it. The room and the car we will arrange.
